Alright, Party People,
When we’re stuck in the office all week long, the weekend is a great time to get some fresh air so when possible, get off the couch and go explore. There’s a whole world waiting for you and they are always happy to have you. Here is the run-down for frugal & fabulous events happening right here in the district this weekend:
1. Friday 9/21/12 -7:15-9:30pm – Fall Outdoor Movie Night – Mount Pleasant Park
Have you been noticing that the classic Friday night of dinner and a movie is becoming a lot more expensive? Head out to Mount Pleasant Park for an evening showing of The Princess Bride tonight, free admission. Can it get any better? Best movie ever, free admission, and the movie ends at 9:30pm – as in the perfect time to hit up the bars.
2. Saturday 9/22/12 – Trucktoberfest – Union Market (Red Line-New York Ave).
Okay, I know what you’re thinking…I’m going to spend my Saturday eating from food trucks? But seriously, this is a not miss. Free admission to this event with trucks lining down New York Avenue and live music, not to mention sale of adult beverages (yes, I know what you do on Saturdays). Check it outt!
3. Saturday 9/22/12 – Summer DC Bar Crawl–Dupont
This is going to be an insane event. From 2-9pm, EventBrite is hosting a bar crawl which features drink specials, entries to a raffle, and free entrance to several bars in Dupont. Tickets are only $15 so gather your friends together for a girl’s night out and make a night of it. Hope to see you there!
4. Sat/Sun 9/22-9/23 – 2012 Book Festival – National Mall
President Obama and Michelle Obama are serving as chairs for the 12th annual Book Festival, featuring authors from several genres of literature. This is a great place to stop by this weekend to catch up with your favorite author or simply to peruse. Free admission – Live it, Love it.
